Ok family and friends, the post you have all been wanting to read! All about our 'lil miss Iva Lou.
Iva turned 5 months on September 1st. I cannot even believe that I have a 5 month old! It seems like she was just born and so teeny, tiny. She seems so big to me! The funny thing is, she is not that big! She had her 4 month check up on August 19, and she weighed a whopping 12 lbs. 4.5 oz.! YIKES! She is still so small! She is in the 12th percentile on her weight. Her height was a little better, 24.5 inches at the 40th percentile. Tall and skinny still! She did not do so well this time around. Too bad her mommy had to work and was late to the appointment, so she was hungry and hating everyone. She screamed throughout the entire exam. And the shots did not go so hot, either. It is bad enough letting someone stick your baby with a needle, but even worse when you know what they are doing and you see them doing it badly. Next time, I will make sure to hold my screaming child so they can place the shot in the proper place, because she did not. So my poor girl had a huge bruise and knot in her little leg. But she was a trooper! A few loves from mommy and daddy, and a full tummy later equalled a happy girl.
Fun things about Iva Lou:
- She is starting to scoot! She is really close to crawling. She pulls her legs up, but then does not know what to do with her arms, so ends up face planting. She thinks its funny! This is when I think she really is small. Most babies who are crawling and scooting are much bigger than her, so it looks weird that she is mobile on the floor; she looks like a little newborn!
- She loves when mommy and daddy share fruit with her. So much that she grabs the fork and holds it in a death grip so you can't pull it away from her mouth.
- She laughs hysterically when I tickle her. When Derrick tries, she looks annoyed and starts to roll away (haha I think that is really funny).
- She chews on EVERYTHING! Her toys, her stuffed animals, the coffee table, the kitchen floor, Daddy's knee, whatever.
- She thinks it is fun to be thrown into the air.
- She prefers to roll from back to front, and loves being on her tummy.
- She growls. A lot.
- Her new thing is scratching her nails on things. For example when she gets her diaper changed, she will lay there and scratch her nails on the changing table pad. She also does it on the couch and in the tub. Weirdo.
Happy after a nap!
Tummy sleeper just like her mommy! It still stresses me out a little to have her on her tummy though!
She would not fall asleep in her crib for her nap, so this is how she fell asleep while I was drying my hair one day.
