We went up North to see Kirtland and Lake Erie this last weekend. It was a really great experience. I am grateful to be living close to a city that has so much significance to the early Latter Day Saints. We are close to a lot of church history sites, so that means we have a lot to see while living here in Ohio!
We left Friday morning, because I had the weekend off work, and we stayed until Saturday night. We got home late Saturday. It was neat to go and see a lot of the different places. I did not realize the Saints stayed in Ohio for as long as they did (7 years!). A lot of revelation was given here in Ohio; much of which is in the Doctrine and Covenants. I have a lot to study!
The first "school of the prophets" Iva went crazy in this room. She was so happy and excited and then cried when we left. I think she saw some of her friends, like Joseph, in here. It was neat.

"Mother Johnson" loved colors! They stripped down the original cupboards to find this teal color which they matched to paint the restored room! The room above had a pretty coral color, which was originally the Johnson's bedroom, but they gave it to the prophet Joseph to use for the work of the church.

They stripped the floor and found these colors in the spare bedroom downstairs. Mother Johnson was ahead of her time in interior decorating!
This shows that they were a wealthy family. The yellow color was apparently expensive.
Iva's feelings on the Kirtland Temple ha. The temple isn't owned by the church. I know the incredible things that happened there, but the spirit was very different here as compared to the other buildings in Kirtland that the church does own. But it was very neat to see because of all the history.
The Morley farmhouse where they held the third or fourth General Conference of the church. There is not a building here, because most of the land that the farm sat on is private property. But the spirit was strong.

So that was our trip! It was short and sweet, but perfect. We learned a ton and had a lot of fun!
That's cool that she was excited in some of the rooms there. I bet she could see all those guys. and that picture where she is pushing your face away and sticking her tonge out is so funny.
